1983 Duryea...history lesson

Still crunching results... The 1983 Duryea event sponsored by Bachman Pretzels of Reading only had 51 entrants....the 80's were some rough years! It was run May 21-22! There were 27 classes...."each car makes at least 3 runs during the weekend". In 2006 there were 6-7 runs per weekend, wit...

Rich figured it out! the answers are: Lloyd Geib, Bill Weaver and John Pitman!! John was 21 and running a 1958 Porsche Speedster! Bill Rutan is an excellent guess...Bill had come down to PA to race as far back, at least, in 1955....but he was no where to be found in the 1963 results. It seems like i...

I've been out recording interviews with some of the old school drivers(I have many visits yet to make!), I have tons of stills, and artifacts…what I don't have right now is a l...

1963 season in review...history lesson.

I just got through recording and entering the 1963 PHA results into my records…what a year!! The 1963 would be the first full year that PHA was the sanctioning body for hill climbs in Pennsylvania. The schedule included the following Hills; Spring Springtown, Spring Hershey, Duryea, Giant's Despair,...

That's the plan John.... I have means to do such and have done it in the past. All part of being the PHA historian/archivist. Joe F. let me borrow a stack of VHS tapes that went to DVD...I have 8mm on disc from such hills as Hershey, Fleetwood, Pine Grove, Schafferstown, Gold Mine and Weatherly. I h...

Cherry Valley ='s Fox Gap Hill Climb

I knew it had to be a AKA for a known hill.... "The Cherry Valley Hill Climb was really called Fox Gap Hill Climb and was presented by the Pocono Mountains Sports Car Association, Inc. In 1958 there were 87 entrys and some pretty notable drivers among them, such as Ted Enk Robinson, John Holmes...

He once owned this ride (good site with some early HC shots) http://www.acmefluid.com.au/larry/AHX14.html I wi...

Cherry Valley Hill Climb...old school

In talking with Alex Coles, old school hill climber from early to mid 60's, the other day...he mentioned a Cherry Valley HC.

Is this code for another hill climb or what!?

I'll be talking to Alex again...but before that, anyone remember this one??

Cars in the movies....

So...when you are watching a movie, do you take notice of certain cars in the flick? I have been spotting VW's for years, recording them, and do a column in my club's newsletter. I use this site to snag stills: http://www.imcdb.org/ check it out....click to see the complete list! must be a sickness!...
