Re: Polish Mountain Repave

I'm super late to the topic but very excited to hear the news. It was so tough to push hard at polish while never knowing how much grip would be available run to run. This will let folks build speed predictably and hopefully result in fewer offs. I look forward to it, hopefully covid is not an impac...

Re: Some ideas for new future hillclimb venues

Thanks for the support and encouragement, Rich. I just scoped out three of the hills all today (Old WV-55, Green Mountain Road, Scherr WV) and and added some details and videos. This exercise makes me realize that a successful hill requires a lot of elements to come together, and a lot of planning! ...

Some ideas for new future hillclimb venues

Well, the Coronavirus got me bored, like a lot of other folks i assume. So i've been scouring the local(ish) areas on google maps in topographical mode looking for winding, hilly roads. I've found lots of good ones, and a smaller few that might even be candidates for future hillclimb roads. The crit...

Re: 2019 Fall Shenandoah TT

Sounds good to me. Are the PHA Shenandoah class records based on that run format, or a flying lap format?

Re: 2019 Fall Shenandoah TT

The track map seems to indicate will be using a standing start as opposed to pods. Is that accurate?

Re: 2019 Spring Weatherly

It looks like "white water challenges" aka "adventure campground" is nearby and had showers, bathrooms, etc. I might give them a try.

Re: 2019 Spring Weatherly

Are there any camping options at Weatherly? If so, are there any facilities?

Is "membership" my scca membership or a PHA-specific thing?

Re: 2019 Spring Jefferson Poll 2

i like the idea of the tracksprint / horizontal hillclimb. no need for me to change from street to track pads! plus it's a little more like the hillclimb style of running on cold tires. while i'd be okay exchanging one of the summit point events for a hillclimb, the jefferson event will make for a n...

Re: 2019 Spring Jefferson Poll 2

another thought: it may increase the challenge to run clockwise for points one day and counter clockwise for points the next.

Re: 2019 Spring Jefferson Poll 2

i have run both trackcross and flying lap styles with other orgs, but haven't run with PHA. That said, i'd be in favor of whichever option is expected to result in better event flow and/or more timed runs.

I have current Time Trial licenses with both NASA and SCCA (WDCR), but have never done a hill climb, so i'm subscribing for news as it develops.

Hillclimb suspension: softer or firmer setup?

Greetings, from a prospective hillclimber! My car is a 2005 Mazda RX-8 that is notionally SCCA DSP (underprepped from a performance standapoint, but that's fine). I have received feedback and clarification on the safety requirements, but i wanted to ask a few general car setup questions to determine...
