2005 FALL
THE BEAT GOES ON
The annual bash at Summit Point’s Jefferson Circuit continues what has been an awesome season for the new TIME TRIALS SERIES in SCCA.
Sixty-four drivers competing in thirty-six classes
set thirteen class records during six sets of timed runs over the course of the
weekend.
Excellent weather, a dry track, and no serious
incidents contributed to another super event.
Class records were set by the following drivers: In
SSA, Alvey Ford at 64.407 in his MR2; in SSB, Gene Brown in his Miata at
67.733; in AS at 59.085, Steve Tumolo in his Mustang; in ITE, Gordon Wise at
57.042 in his RX7; in DSP at 62.239, Greg Kasprzyk in a BMW; in GTL, Bob
Oswald, Sr. at 59.034 in his VW; in EP at59.371, Jim Seiple in an Alfa GTV; in
F500 at 67.914, Bill Kotyk in a Kamakaze; in FS, Rick Rohrbach in a March at
61.113; in DSR at 53.688, K.J. Taggert in a Cheetah; in H1, Rich Rock in his
TVR at 60.901; in SP2, Brian Kraus at 60.384 in a MG/RX; and in SPECMIATA, Don
Newcomer at 62.033.
Darryl Danko set FTD in his FA at 51.468.
Reportedly, Registration and Tech on Friday evening
went smoothly, the weather both Saturday and Sunday was pleasant, the party
Saturday night was up to BMR’s usual excellence- the food was delicious, and,
while there were some delays due to off-course excursions, the weekend in
general saw no major incidents.
The following are some observations reported to this
driver who missed the event while he and his wife celebrated their fortieth
wedding anniversary across the pond and on a return crossing aboard the QM2…
Don McLaughlin stopped the racing briefly on both
tracks on Sunday when he moved a Jersey barrier with Alvey Ford’s MR2- Don was
OK and the car continued to compete! Kate Yeager had a moment of “high anxiety”
while flagging. Chris Mower “missed” some red flags- fortunately with no
serious consequence…sounds like a trip to the eye doctor is in order. Rick Rohrbach finally got his March homologated and set a class
record. John Stinsmen beat Jane Stinsmen in his DSR,
Bob Oswald, Jr. beat his brother Bill, Tony Ford and Keith Bessette beat their
significant others, and grandpa Don DeHart beat granddaughter Crystal as the
family rivalries continue.
Another super event in a season of super
events! Next stop, Fall Weatherly… See
you on the hill!
